MetroTaifun® Chute 247: Enabling Effective and
Hygienic Transfer of Laundry and Solid Waste

MetroTaifun® Chute 247 System has been developed for cruise ships
and passenger ferries for collection and conveying of laundry and
solid waste directly to their end destinations without using trolleys and
service lifts. Conveying takes place by strategically located vertical
chutes alongside the ship’s corridors and service spaces. In the bottom
of chutes, transportation continues via vacuum piping to the end
destination.
The key in MetroTaifun® Chute 247 lies in intermediate storages, which
can manage daily waste and laundry amounts safely and hygienically.
The staff can place the waste or laundry immediately into the chutes
without need for waiting chute doors to be closed on other decks.

The innovative green concept utilizes earth’s gravity in chutes and
vacuum in horizontal conveying and minimizes the need of ship staff
to convey trollies and to use service lifts. As a result, tens of cabin
cleaning staff are now freed for other passenger services and service
lifts can be dedicated for transportation of luggage and ship’s service
staff.

Waste bags are sorted automatically by their Color-coded sorted laundry arriving by vacuum
color or RFID tags. smoothly to 2 redundant, structural laundry
rooms.
